Scientist Award |

Dr.
Harikrishnan V. S. (1997 batch) has been
awarded JALAS International Award (Japanese Association
for Laboratory Animal Science) as Young Scientist 2009
in Laboratary Animal Science field and has been invited
to the 57th annual meeting of JALAS to be held in Kyoto,
Japan, in May 2010. The award is offered to one person
per year from each Asian Countries by JALAS. He will
receive the award in the General Assembly of JALAS and
will deliver his work on the ”Development of a
persistant Interventional Hind Limb Ischemia Model In
New Zealand White Rabbits” in the oral session. Dr.
Harikrishnan V. S. is presently working at Sree Chitra
Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology,
Bio Medical Technology Wing as Scientist-B. He can be

Vocational short term training on “Polymerase chain reaction
and related techniques” |
|
A vocational short term training programme on “PCR and
related techniques” was conducted at the Department of
Veterinary Parasitology, COVAS, Pookot, for 15 days from
18-01-2010 to 05-02-2010. Dr. Reghu Ravindran, Assistant
Professor was the Course Director. The training was intended
for graduates of B.V.Sc & AH and M.Sc (Life Sciences)
aspiring for higher studies and research. There were theory
and hands on practical sessions on the basic tools of
Biotechnology like DNA isolation, PCR, agarose gel
electrophoresis, gel documentation and PCR-RFLP.

Training on “Hematology and Hemoparasites”at COVAS, Pookot |

Short term training on “Hematology and
Hemoparasites” funded by the Animal Husbandry Department, Kerala
was conducted at the Department of Veterinary Parasitology,
College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookot from 12-01-10
to 16-01-10. Dr. K.
Devada, Professor and Head, Dept. of Parasitology was the course
Director and classes were held in the disciplines of
Parasitology, Pathology, Physiology, Biochemistry and Medicine.
There were 10 participants from various districts.
